Robert Muscolino - BEST HOSTEL you will ever go to!! Run by two friendly and helpfull brothers.Has a warm & welcoming communal feel. If you are travelling alone you will be sure to make friends instantly. Has a great vibe with music, free internet, washing machine, full kithen, fridge and secure big lockers....and best selection of tea you will find anywhere in the world ;) Location is very central. Dont be surprised if u spend all day in the hostel socialising and not seeing the sites of Beograd. Serbia rocks!!!!!!!!!!!
Hermione Gardiner - had a blast, such a nice host and an awesome hostel, really close to everything, air conditioning! yay!
Cara Christie - The guys who run the place are really fantastic, helpful and patient. Brilliant location and my stay there was fab!
Andrew Wozniuk - Great hostel and great staff. Location was perfect. Right near everything you would want to see and do, and the staff was fun, friendly, helpful and passionate to make sure that I had a great stay. Very flexible to match my travel plans and helpful in making arrangements as well.
Michael Jordan - This was one of the best places I stayed in while backpacking through europe. Its a small place run by three people. I only met two of them, but they were very cool. They work very hard to ensure you enjoy your stay. Its one of those places that doesn't hold up a bill every time you use a facility. They'll give you enough free tea and coffee to give you a heart attack. There's free internet access, free lockers, free towels, clean showers and toilets, and a clean and brilliantly equipped kitchen to use. The location is ideal. its a fifteen minute walk from the train station, but easy to get to and close to all the sights you'l want to see. the staff are great, they'll give you tips on what to see, where to go, etc. you wont regret booking this place
Chris Hodgson - the two guys running the place were awesome! they were good fun, friendly an very helpful - we needed help organising a trip to Montenegro which they did via the net -thanks!!! they printed off maps and gave useful local info and bought us beer too :-) Highly recommend this hostel scott sameroff really enjoyed staying here. the staff was excellent and informative, and the hostel is very close to the fortress and numerous bars/supermarkets/restaurants. i would highly recommend this hostel
Greta McGregor - I have now stayed at this hostel twice, and I would stay at it again, the staff are so nice, and helpful, the rooms are large, and clean, and the hostel is in a great location. I would reccomend it to anyone.
Andrew Schork - Cant say enough about how cool the two guys who run this place are, definately recommend this place to anyone.
Andrea Gregory - You will love it here! The location is in the middle of everything. Dance clubs and great bars are right down the street. You will feel like the staff are your friends. The only difference is they know their way around this city and will tell you everything you have ever wanted to know about Belgrade and the rest of Serbia. It is the best hostel I have ever stayed at. Come check it out.
Leslie Wagstaff - Star Hostel has the most interesting experience of any hostel we've ever stayed at. The staff is incrediblz friendly and welcoming and it is an amaying place to meet fellow travellers and explore Belgrade.
Markus Goransson - rated this hostel at 100% because I could honestly not find anything to detract from. It is the best hostel that I have stayed at so far. Here is why: I went to Belgrade to do a two-week internship. I needed a place where I could relax, keep my stuff safe while I worked, that had good bathroom and kitchen facilities and that was close to the center. Star hostel is cleaner than you would expect a hotel to be, with a well-equipped kitchen (with free tea and coffee!) and a spacious bathroom with tiled walls. The internet is fast and free, the beds are comfortable and there is plenty of drawers and cupboards to store your stuff (including good security lockers). But more importantly than all of this, the hosts, the brothers Marko and George are incredibly friendly and very easy-going. I had a cold when I arrived so they practically poured chamomille tea down my throat to make me feel better. Someone on this page wrote that Star hostel feels more like an apartment that you share with friends than a hostel; that's really true. It's such a friendly atmosphere. I'm so happy that I decided to stay at Star hostel during my two weeks in Belgrade. It's an awesome place.
Nicole McInteer - Great place to stay. Staff was wonderfully nice and helpful. EXCELLENT location. Very central and easy to find from the tram stop. Lockers also provided. No breakfast, but a bakery right next door. Free Internet. Would definitely stay there again...
Madeline Schwartz - what a great hostel! george and marcko (the guys that run the hostel) are friendly, really helpful, informative, and fun to hang out with. the hostel itself has the most inviting atmosphere, when you come back to the hostel in the evening, it feels like coming home (if at home you stay up late and drink beer =) and its right in the center of town, near everything youd want. honestly, one of the best hostels weve stayed in yet, really made belgrade for us.
Peter Jefferies - The brothers that run the place are ace, very helpful with places to see and go out to eat and drink. The longer you stay the better the city grows on you. The hostel is smaller than most I have stayed in, but this adds to a great community feeling here. Cheers George an Marko!! justin shepherd - the blokes who run it are cool- they taught me alot about serbia especially its recent history, very solo traveller friendly
Lee Vernon - This place was great - the brothers who ran it are absolutely excellent, know the area, are cool to chill with and run a tight ship. Nice one lads!
Alison Bassi - Staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. Perhaps our favorite hostel yet. Clean, fun, unbeatable location. Highly recommended.
Adele Hauser - I know that 100% is high, but I love this hostel. It has all the standard things: very clean, amazing location next to the center and the park, safe, interesting... and so on. I lost my ATM card, had to leave Belgrade to get a new one, and as soon as I had it, I came strait back to this hostel. I also learned how to make a proper cup of Turkish coffee. Some of the other reviews say that is hostel is like staying at a friend's house. It is. Best place I have stayed at, hands down. Go to Belgrade. Stay here. (Thank you Marko and George, xoxox)
Boris Kramar - Cool, cool hostel to relaks in zhe hostel and go out! Hostel ima dobro razporejene sobe in skupni prostot, tako da lahko bedite dologo v noč, in ne motite tisith ki spijo!!! Odlična lokacija, dobre povezave javnega prevoza..... Primerna izbira!!
Jessica Carey - great place, george and marco are so nice. perfect location. wish i had stayed longer!
Susan Chen - Staff were great, as well as the location, right next to the fortress park. I really enjoyed staying there...
James Walsh - great place the lads are very helpful, told us the best and cheapest place to eat, There common room was great, music and beer what more do you need
Doug Hemingway "Great location, good facilities and extremely cool, friendly and helpful staff. "
Spyridon Darmanin " EVERYTHING! if i was asked to make the ideal place to stay in belgrade i wouldnt have make it such perfect! the location is just in the middle of everything, the atmosphere is nothing less than grea and you cannot find more friendly people! the only bad moment at star hostel was when we had to leave!"
Geraud Geoffroy Pascal "Excellente auberge de jeunesse au centre de Belgrade. L equipe la plus sympathique possible, pour des prix tout a fait abordABLES. Allez-y!"
Khushbu Shah "The owners, the atmosphere, it is the best hostel i've stayed in so far! "
Eleanor Davey "The location is very handy, the atmosphere very personal and comfortable, and the staff are super friendly. You really feel at home here and it was perfect for the chilly afternoons and slow starts in the morning... Which you might end up with after a few nights out hosted by George and Marko!" Jori Lindlez "This hostel is great, probably because the people you deal with are the people who own it, so it's in their own best interest to make it good! LOCATION: Perfect, right between the places you'll go the most - Citadel is right near/above it, Knez Mihailova (did I spell that right? The pedestrian-only area) and the rest the of the city below. And close to a number 2 tram stop (that tram goes around the entire center / all the places you'll go.) I try to use my time really efficiently when I travel, and generally never set foot back in a hostel except at night, but here, I found myself stopping back in multiple times a day just to change my jacket or ask advice on where to eat, or to hop on the (free!) internet quickly. It was conveniently located enough that this didn't even make me feel like I was losing time. PRICE: Dirt-cheap, as you can see. CONDITION: Super clean. It's brand new! And their beds will remain clean, too, because they have removable covers that can actually be washed. I was given a demonstration of this. No scary mattresses here! SECURITY: We didn't lock our rooms, (though maybe I could have, if I had wanted to) but the main door to the hostel itself is locked, and the rooms were equipped with a large free locker that I had no problem fitting all of my stuff into. Even someone with a big backpack could easily fit at least all of his/her most valuable things into it. FACILITIES: Laundry (not free), kitchen, free internet. There was also a television in our room, but I didn't turn it on so I don't know what stations it gets. STAFF: Fantastic. They started this hostel themselves, so they want it to be good! Someone is always there to help you, and give you excellent, personalized advice. Not just "where is the bus station" but stuff like "Hey, where can I get food that's fairly cheap and one step above crap?" or "Where can I get a real sit-down meal, with good food, but lowish-mid-priced?" They can also tell you about Serbian culture. Ask them about Nikola Teslo. Everything is very laid back (like, there's no problem if you arrive late and can't pay upon arrival because you didn't convert any money yet), you can arrive any time, and you can even pay in EUR. They're friendly and helpful and patient with travelers no matter how stupid or annoying we might be. George even took care of me for hours iin the middle of the night when I was sick with the worst random stomach ache I've ever had in my entire life! He's a genius with his tea-&-hot-towels method. Needless to say, it was far more than I expected for ten bucks a night! "
Katja Ludwig "the guys who run this hostel are very friendly and now a lot of history of the city and region. they can help with day trips and give advise on museums and nightlive"
Sammy Bhutani "The people running the hostel are wonderful.....they make it feel like you are actually visiting some of your good friends in Serbia, and not just staying at a hostel"

March 2007 I must warn you that this is a party hostel -- and this is not personally my thing. I like to go out and know that when I come home at 1 in the morning I will be able to get to sleep -- but I know everyone is different. It is a good hostel. The brothers who run it are really friendly and helpful. The internet is free (but slow). The hostel has a good location. The bathroom, toilets, and dorms are not dirty but they have a lived in feel to them. It is good value for money -- very cheap. You will have a lot of fun but not get a lot of sleep. A good choice.

February 2007 Loved the place. I felt right at home. The guys (the owners) were very helpful and friendly. The hostel is located in the heart of Belgrade! Most of the interesting places are a walking distance, so I got to see plenty of interesting things. I recommend this place to people that are social and easy-going, who want to see something new, different, and exciting. I miss Belgrade!

January 2007 My two-week stay at Star Hostel was very pleasant, to say the least. The friendly staff and warm atmosphere really made me feel at home, as well as helped make my stay in Belgrade an enjoyable one. Travelers going to Star Hostel will find that it's easy to locate and that its bathrooms are kept neat and tidy. The large lockers they have will give you peace of mind, in case you're traveling with any valuables. I won't hesitate to go back to Star Hostel for my next trip to Belgrade.

November 2006 One of the best hostels I have stayed in during my travels! I stayed almost ten days and found it difficult to leave cause, from the moment I arrived, I felt really welcomed and it was like my 'home away from home.' George and his brother Marko were very helpful and informative -- always ready to provide me with the necessary information in relation to a variety of different travel needs. I really loved the feel of the place and the lovely stylish surroundings and it's situated right in the heart of Belgrade, which then makes exploring this city oh so very easy. The availability of two computers for internet usage, web cam, and all the many varied programs, including "Skype" and the great music and additional entertainment was heavenly and very much appreciated! great place and great management. come to Star Hostel, you will love the experience!

October 2006 George and his staff were so great I ended up staying in Belgrade a whole week. There is music to download, all the travel advice you need, free internet, super relaxed atmosphere, spacious rooms, and unbeatable location a block from the pedestrian walkway and the park. The common area is a bit small, but it just made for an easier time getting to know fellow travelers. Star Hostel was the type of place where the owner made the hostel.

July 2006 Realy, realy nice. From the moment you walk in you feel welcome, as friend who just came back from a long trip. Instantly offered with coffee, tea, joining a chat, and hearing everything you need to know about the city, on which the guys who run the place are knowledgeable. The rooms are spacious, beds new, and best bathroom tiles ever. Location is superb, next to the bestest thing you need to visit in Belgrade, the citadel. Thats this huge park, which represents the history of Belgrade, and needs to be visited more then once. The common room is the only place smoking is allowed in and is completely separated from the dorms so there is almost no noise coming in from it. Its airconditioned, which realy helped me out wile i was here, there is free highspeed internet, lots of good music on cpu, soooo many movies. and what else can i say i loved it! Stay here.
